About Location
Set on a long peninsula in the Tauranga Harbour just 22km north of Tauranga, Omokoroa has transformed over the years from the sleepy holiday spot to a thriving lifestyle area with a mix of residential, industrial, small landholdings and some retail.
Omokoroa translates from Maori legend as ‘the place of the long lizard’. It was a plentiful larder and a strategic trading and fighting post for Maori before European settlement in the late 1800’s.
The Omokoroa to Tauranga Cycle Trail is part of the New Zealand Cycle Trail network and provides a safe and recreational link between the peninsular and Tauranga City.
